Northern Irish soprano Giselle Allen is celebrated for her compelling portrayals of opera's most demanding dramatic roles, earning critical acclaim for performances that combine vocal power, emotional intensity and commanding stage presence.
Among her most acclaimed performances are Elektra (Irish National Opera), Tosca (Opera Australia; Opera North), Salome (Opera North; Northern Ireland Opera), Marie in Wozzeck (Canadian Opera Company), Miss Jessel in The Turn of the Screw (Glyndebourne, Opernhaus Zürich, La Monnaie and Opéra National de Lyon); and the Foreign Princess in Dvořák’s Rusalka with Irish National Opera and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Domingo Hindoyan. Next season she makes her role debut as Sieglinde Die Walküre (Grange Park Opera).

On the concert platform, Giselle has appeared in many of the major concert halls in the UK and Ireland including Janáček’s Glagolitic Mass (the Hallé Orchestra); Beethoven 9th Symphony (City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra & the Philharmonia Orchestra); Dvořák’s Stabat Mater (Ulster Orchestra); Dvořák’s Te Deum (Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra); Minnie La fanciulla del West (National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland); Eleonora in Salieri’s Prima la Musica poi le Parole (Scottish Chamber Orchestra); Jenny Smith The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny (Edinburgh International Festival); and Salome in Massenet’s Herodiade (Anna Livia International Opera Festival).
Forthcoming engagements see her debut in the role of Sieglinde Die Walküre (Grange Park Opera); and returns to The Royal Opera and Ballet and Welsh National Opera.
